Welcome to Waiatarua

What a year 2011 has been. In a few weeks it will all be over and we will ask ourselves what we achieved.
I am very proud of the team who worked on the production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” - this must have been the most challenging production we have ever done.  We had most of the cast and back stage crew either sick or not feeling 100% during both the rehearsal period and production time.  We even had for the first time since WPAT started in 2004 a stand-in during opening night.  Apart from all that theaudiences for the whole production were full of praise, so once again a big Thank You to you all.
So now it is the end of the year and we are looking forward to 2012.
We are pleased to announce that Kathy Lowe will direct the fantastic story of “Steel Magnolias” next year.  Auditions will take place early March with the aim of having the production on stage during the last two weeks of May.   So keep your diaries clear if you are an actress, yes only females in the cast. (sorry guys).   We are always looking for support crew members though so contact us if you want to get involved.   We are always grateful for the support from organizations, both commercial or otherwise for the assistance they provide.   We wouldn’t be able to bring you the entertainment or provide an outlet for the creative talents in our group without your help.   We wish you all the best of health and happiness for the festive season and look forward to seeing you at our little theatre in Waiatarua during 2012.

February 2010

The idea of a website for Waiatarua Performing Arts Trust (WPAT) has been thrown around for a while now, so finally we have got it off the ground.  It will be updated regularly and hopefully just get better and better.  Not only is this a great way to keep in touch with members, but also a means of communicating upcoming events and possibly welcoming aboard “new blood”.

Visitors can read up a little of the history of WPAT, and also gain insight into some of the production roles through the eyes of those who have already walked the walk.  Visit “past productions” to see what WPAT has achieved in the past five years.  We have also included some important information regarding membership, contacts of key people and event dates.
